Perming lotion is the medical agent to affect on protein inside hair and change figure of hair. There are 2 major categories; waving lotion and straitening lotion but their principle is same.
Straitening lotion is expected visible effect, so the lotion is strong.That means, straitening lotion should be handled with professional care so not suitable for DIY market.
History of perming
The earliest record of a perm is from Egypt in 3,000 BC. The method used was to apply natural alkaline mud to the hair and then wrapping the hair around a wooden stick. The hair was then dried in the sun.
For the next 5,000 years women's desire to make themselves beautiful has gone unchanged and now permanent wave products that add waves to hair have been created. These products don't damage the hair and give uniform, beautiful waves that are long-lasting.
Types of perming products
Perm products are quasi drugs of the Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs Law. Recently the demand for cosmetic curling materials has been growing so I would like to introduce them at the same time. The drug is selected according to the extent of damage to the hair, hair quality and the style requested by the customer.

Investigation of needs
When developing a perming product it is important to carefully investigate the needs of your customers.
- ・Waves that are faithful to the rod, slice width and shape of the angle that the salon stylist selected
- ・Alkali and pH for long-lasting waves that protect against damage to hair
- ・Various additives (moisturizers, PPT and conditioners)
Waves only are not perms?
Straight perms and hair straightening and the like use the same principle drugs.
The hair of Japanese people is mostly round or slightly elliptical.
Japanese people's hair is mostly flat like noodles made in flat strips. Hair that bends back and forth while curling is rare.
Powerful drugs and irons are hot, so it hurts the hair.

Perming products and curling agents
It is not just quasi drug (determined by the Revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law) perming products that give hair curls to and maintains them. Cosmetic curling agents that can do this have also been created. However, curling agents cannot add strong waves to hair like quasi-drug perming products can. The advantage they hold is that it is possible to combine various additives and because there is no need to apply for approval you can quickly respond to your customer’s needs.
